"Road With Cabanon" by Julian Merrow-Smith.

I know, it is not even close (an understatement!) but I’m going to keep working on it. For one thing Julian Merrow-Smith’s original painting is in oils and mine is Acrylics. I think I’ll try the next one in oils using a different color palette. For this painting I used Ultramarine Blue, Transparent Red Oxide, Cadmium Yellow Medium, and White. I had trouble getting the greens that Julian used. Hopefully I’ll do better on the next try.

This bird is on the prowl for some juicy fat bug or maybe a nice plump worm!

Two Very Small Landscape Paintings

These are two very small landscape paintings I’m working on. They are both on the same canvas. Although small (4×6 inches each) I believe they come across as seeming larger.

I tried to set a different mood for each by using different palette schemes. By  using only red, yellow, blue and white, color harmony is achieved in both paintings.

I’m thinking they might be finished as is, but I haven’t decided yet.

Lemon and Grapes: This is an acrylic painting that I painted not too long ago. I actually did this in colored pencil several years ago around Christmas time.  It was a gift for my brother and sister in law. I wanted to paint it in a “painterly” style. I may paint it again in oils to see if there is a significant difference between oil and acrylics.
